DG 4 mirror mounting ??

I recently picked up a set of DG 4 mirrors for my 72 from a forum member. Pretty much all the pics I've found here show the upper mount at the vent window and the lower ones about even with the level of the door handle. However in the factory assembly manual it shows mounted as below. The upper mount on the set I have aren't bent as in the pic in the manual. They will fit though as I've seen them in numerous pics here on the forum by the vent window.

Could anyone help me out with the correct placement? The second pic is of my old 72 with similar mirrors mounted as I've seen here. Thx

My '72 has them mounted like in your truck picture. I noticed the manual said '71 in case that makes a difference.

Assembly Manual pic is for a 71 as ncpetersc pointed out, and it does make a difference. Your photo is a 72 example. Here is a 71 DG4 pic (matches the Assembly Manual 71 pic you posted) - you need the Assembly Manual pic for a 72, if there is one.

Re: DG 4 mirror mounting ??

I concur with above, from my research and parts gathering, the DG4 [SS] and D29 [white] were both shortened in '72..

hence my dilemma, I like the shorter arms but trying to keep the '71 looking model year correct as much as possible..

The pic is a 72 Cheyenne I had and sold back in the 90's. My assembly manual is 67-72

The assembly manual I have covers 67-72. I'm still going through it to see if I can locate the 72 mirror install
