Re: Jesses' 48 PU

Worked on the two front fenders today. I am not very good at working bondo. I always watched my dad work it flawless, well at least he made it look that way. Guess it was all the years of experience he had. Honestly I was afraid of it and afraid of messing it up. And guess what? I DID!
I thought that if I added a small amount of hardner I would have more time to work it. Boy was I wrong. I had to scrape off the first mix as it never fully hardened. It was soft... so I called my dad and after he got done laughing he suggested I scrape it off and work in smaller sections and add enough hardner..
So I can claim to have officially bondo'd my fenders...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU

Wish I could say I had not made the same mistake, but...

The truck is coming along nicely.

I plan to go look for that fender this weekend.

I am always the other direction. Too much hardner and it sets in like 30 seconds and I have to throw a 1/2 pound blob in the garbage. Keep at it! It's looking great!

I know your pain, I’m almost done with my bodywork and have been sanding for a month and a half. It’s like eating an elephant one bite at a time. Hang in there!

Re: Jesses' 48 PU

Hello world... its been a while... been working on my truck here and there. I am able to travel for work so like Willie said...on the road again... in the air in my case...
But decided to take today off and do something ive been looking forward to in years... and that is lay down some paint...It may seem odd, weird and who knows maybe it wont turn out as I planned it... but from the get go, I said I did not want a show truck nor did I want a flat black truck. So here is what I did. If you notice I painted it in my garage... hope I dont get a ticket from the HOA or mess up any cars with over spray. I placed two boxed fans on the bottom of my garage door one facing in and one facing out. I bought three home AC filters 20x20 and placed one on the fan blowing in and two on the fan blowing out. I taped plastic in between and did the cross motion (blessed myself, im catholic) lol..
First color is SERAPH ORANGE

Re: Jesses' 48 PU

Looks good.

As a kid my dad painted a few cars in the garage with a similar set up. Can't say it passes EPA guidelines, but it'll work.
