Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

Thanks man.

I printed the first coupon I found online and got it for $149.99 with tax.

I just got back with it in fact.....it's too heavy to unload so I guess I'll assemble it tomorrow in my dad's garage (if there is room). I may have to store it outside (under a tarp) until my new wheel bearing comes in Wednesday.

I can store it in pieces in my garage but once the truck is back together (starting reassembly tomorrow woohoo!) I will have room for it assembled in my garage.

Thanks for the advice and support guys.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

OK! Put the press together yesterday, pretty easy but used two 3/8 metric ratchet sets plus a large crescent and 1/2 ratchet. Two machine screws are allen heads.

Haven't used it yet but hope too Sunday.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

You wont regret it. I built small bending jigs for mine out of scraps and make all sorts of small parts and stupid stuff for my wife to put in the yard so the crackheads can steal it.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

I don't have pics but I can say the heavy "X" plates that came with mine to help hold objects for pressing are torch cut steel, not cast.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

I had a large 40 ton press I had made over 20 years ago, I sold it and bought the 20 ton Harbor Freight press. I didnt need such a large press anymore and the little HF press does everything I need. I mounted mine on 6" I beams with 4" locking castors so its about a foot taller now which gets it up to a better working height. I also replaced the bottle jack with an air over hydraulic jack and addsed a foot valve so you can now use both hands holding your work. Also changed the pressure release to a lever so you dont have to mess with that handle.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

Used my 12ton HFT press on my wife's PT Cruiser front wheel bearings (glad I'm rid of that piece of junk), as well as pressing out the studs and replacing front brake rotors on my '72. Does the job.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

I still haven't used my press for anything! What I thought was wheel bearing noise has gone away (did clean my caliper though which helped) and I need to put my new rotors on but the car is still stopping so I am putting that job off for a few more oil changes.

Glad to have this press, happy to have it, my dad loves it, and I am glad to have you guys here to steer me right.

Re: Is this a good hydraulic press?

Going to be honest i dont even use a press anymore on my hondas i just knock them out with a hammer and then use a long bolt and washer to pull the hub back in
