Head lights stay on
Just installed a new headlight switch from RA now i cant turn my headlights off is there a way to check to see if this new switch is defective

Here's your light switch for 68 and newer. 67s were slightly different and the 66 and older were very different.
The red wire and the orange wire are hot so if either one is in the wrong spot or if the blue wire is in the wrong spot it will get power from one of the other ones and keep the HLs on,With the headlight switch off unplug the red wire. If the lights go off then the switch could be bad, or the red wire is in the wrong place. Now unplug the orange wire with the switch off and the red wire plugged back in and the lights go off then the orange wire might be in the wrong place or the switch might be bad internally. If the lights go out then turn the switch on and the lights should come on. This sounds confusing and it is but if you check the wiring like shown then the switch is most likely the culprit. Unless it works now.

Thanks Vv for the info, I'll start there, and see where it leads me....also my ps marker lt doesn't have power, but ds does

 [url=https://flic.kr/p/2jai4RD]20200609_085622wiring looks right, as your pic, removed red wire from connecter, and light stay off want to mention I have the relay for the light circuit on my core support and the heavier gauge wire also I have a unconnected lug in the 7 spot does this all mean I have a defective new hl switch

OK, just repeated test with the orange wire removed from the switch, lights stay off
bent locking tab out for the locking position

just ran over to NAPA, had switch in stock, installed switch on headlights on, switch off headlights off, plus my ps side marker now lights up....
