For anyone thinking about this an fyi, my 97 Silverado has the 3rd door but the passenger seat still slides and tilts forward like a regular extended cab seat would.

The pic is my junkyard find from yesterday. From 94 Silverado extended cab (Well, what was left of it). It's going in my 72 K10 in place of the factory bench seat. For now, the gas tank is still in the original location behind the seat.

I've got 2 questions:

1. In this thread, I've seen the seat mounted in 2 locations. With the front of the mounting bracket on top of the floor hump and also just behind the hump. Why did you choose your particular mounting location? Pros and cons?

And
2. For those who have mounted this split bench, did you have to modify the inside bracket on the passenger half of the bench? And Did you mount that bracket on the floor hump or just behind it?

I liked using the stock outer mounts, then spacers for the rear and middle. Why, I liked the slightly higher seating position than mounting it to the flat floor behind the hump. I used some 3/4" to 1" pipe adapters as spaces. They seemed to be correct height. I had to play with washers for the inner seat legs of the seats till I got something right.

Eventually I made spacers out of steel pipe. I used 1/4" thick still plating for underside mounts where I drilled new holes for either the seats and seat belts.

I have a totaled 03 Tahoe witch seats would fit better between the 2nd row and front... the fronts are comfy but I believe they are to tall

Took back seats out of a 2004 Ford F150 truck. Made my own seat bracket. Im 6'3" and its pretty comfy. I like the center arm rest. Wish it had a cup holder like the chevy. Only reason I didn't use the chevy seats out of a newer truck is because there a little thicker. The 67-72 weren't very roomy to begin with.

I did a little how-to for making a frame that can mount any kind of seats without drilling up your floor. My case involved Subaru Impreza seats and a Blazer console.
Whole thing cost me about $300 and took a bit of welding

Here is the progress I've made on my '69 C10 Stepside. Seats / console are from a 2011 Chevy crew cab in titanium leather. Self designed door panels and dash pad have been made to match by Cy-Fair Upholstery and Glass. Center jump seat cushion is a JL Audio Stealthbox also covered to match.

Installation was straightforward. Drilled (8) ~5/8" holes, used 3" diameter 1/4" thick cadmium washers under cab floor, with lock washers, stainless steel industrial grade bolts and cupped washers on the seat track provisions.

I'm 6'-4" and the seats are very comfortable. They are 8-way power so they go forward, back, up, down, tilt bottom cushion front or back, etc. I would not install these generation seats without power as you will not have the height and bottom tilt adjustment without power. They also have manual lumbar. A tilt column is a must for entry and egress. Power is achieved with a 12V power and ground, that's all that is needed. I also ran a dedicated 12V and ground for the factory 12V power supply in the console.

I ended up using the rear seats due to not being able to remove the front. It looks good and is comfy, only one problem they don't move. I made them fit my 5' 10" self to sit perfect.

there was a picture of a later model bench seat with armrest on here. it was black and white houndstooth. if anyone has that seat or picture of it I would sure like to show it to my upholstery guy. it must have been deleted by photobucket.

Used stock floor seat holes with the '91 side brackets. And a detail of the mounts.

I'm 6'3 and I have the same problem I have a seat 60/40 from the 95 chevy and it is thick and it's pretty tough to ride in my truck. You think this style gives you plenty of room. I'm working with drum brakes too so I need some room to hammer down on those when I stop lol

I mounted the seat bracket front holes to the factory floow front holes. With or without the tank the seat goes back the same distance. You see a little more leg room and sit more chair like, which I like better.
