my first 64, the Jalapeno'

been around this board for a while, I've owned and built about 10 67-72 trucks and built a 69 sub with a 468, 700R4 and 22's. I also own a 95 GMC used to be 2wd hafton, which is now a 1 ton axled 4wd, and recently brought a 46 GMC 1 ton back to life out of a field...But, I never really had a soft spot for the 60-66s...til now...I am glad to say I am a friend of Dino's (the Man)LOL, and I tried to give him the lead on these, but he already had too many going on...there were three 64's on Dallas Craigslist for a few weeks, and the green one caught my eye...I was able to get three trucks, except for one hood, and two motors, one a six and one a later model V8...I went to pick them up, and brought back the two long beds first...I plan to build the green 64 and part out the other long bed and the short stepside on Craigslist...so here are the starter pics, I was able to unload the two trucks today, and then I bought motor mounts and put the V8 in my Jalepeno...need to find a trans crossmember and it will be bolted in...oh, and the gray one just happens to have a dual exhaust complete with rams horn manifolds....now that is luck!!!

the exhaust in the gray one thats going in the Jalepeno' and the 80's motor that was included...don't know anything about it yet, just going to see if it runs....they had all the openings in the motor blocked off and the tranny was still full also......

Re: my first 64, the Jalepeno'

Did some work on the Jalapeno today, was going to do cab mounts, but decided I needed to hit the car wash first to get rid of any hitchhikers, I have found two big Black Widows this week, one on the yellow shortbed....so, loaded up the truck, hit the car wash and came back home and started removing the diamond plate bed floor....would have left it in if it wasn't on top of the wood floor.....helps having a tractor with forks and a cutting torch for this stuff....and after that used the tractor to pull the bed and went back to the car wash again....tomorrow, I plan on doing the cab mounts, reworking the tranny crossmember as needed, and buttoning up the exhaust,,,then I will see what else I can do

It was chore, but the tractor and the cutting torch made it a lot easier...plus, now I have some diamond plate to play with....

Re: my first 64, the Jalepeno'

SCORE!!!!! I was cruising around on Craigslist the other day and saw some 2/5 lowering coils for sale....said they were brand new, so I called about them...long story short, the Jalapeno will be rolling low!!!! haven't gotten much done due to weather and illness, but hopefully tomorrow will be nicer and I will be able to finish the cab mounts and get the springs installed...
