Tips for adding dually fenders to non dually bed?

Has anyone added dually fenders to a bed before?

I'm about to be doing this, what are you having problems with? I have all the parts here, including three dually beds for parts and looking at as I go.

My plan is to convert my existing long wide bed to long dually. The wheel well openings will need to be enlarged before the dually fenders are bolted on. I will be using the worst dually bed I have and cutting its enlarged-wheel well bedsides off to use as a template on the bed I am converting. That way I have the mounting holes located correctly and open up the wheel wells to the same size as factory.

That is actually what I have planned but I was hoping not to have to cut apart my "spare" dually bed.

yeah...me neither but cant seem to find anyone who will cut one up and ship the sides to me. I actually picked up an early dually bed that I sold the trim off of which makes the bed owe me very little, so not losing much by doing this. everyone up north would cry if they see the bed I cut to pieces though but what can you do...

I would be willing to RENT the bedsides to you once I finish with them. I want them back though...I'm a bit of a hoarder and I only want to cut up one dually bed, who knows what projects lies ahead. just email me at the address in my sig if this interests you

you could make heavy paper templates of the dually bedside...be way cheaper to ship and you wouldn't have to worry bout getting em back

Good suggestion here. My Dad years ago used to custom build boats and laid out the frames, transom and other parts on " rosin paper ". It was (is) a heavy weight dull red paper he bought from our local lumber yard. I just Googled it and Google said it is available from Menards, Home Depot and other lumber stores. Heavy weight and great for laying out full sized plans. Used for roof underlayment and floor underlayment also. Just chiming in for a suggestion. Would be way cheaper than shipping dually side pieces.

Maybe poster board templates?

I'll be doing this in the next year or so as well. Fortunately I have a dually here to copy from.
