Post a pic when you can....but as an interim....

Place a small gauge jumper wire with an inline fuse built in, between the Positive battery post and the junction block, and try the headlights....if the fuse blows, the headlight circuit has a short somewhere...

Remove one end of the fusible link and using an multi meter set to Ohms, measure the resistance of the fusible link....If it is open circuit, it has burned up due to a short somewhere...

To me it sounds like the fusible link melted causing a loss of supply voltage to not only the headlights but also the Ignition switch circuits....

These old trucks are a basic system that has several fail points,,,,bad grounds, corroded connections at connection plugs, especially firewall to cab connectors and failed fusible links...plus the occasional bad component like an Ignition switch or solenoid...

I would concentrate on one item at a time...with first item to test being the fusible link...

If it fails you will have a truck with nothing that works...

Ok, half of the problem has been solved. The electrical loss is fixed. And it was almost impossible to find because it was completely invisible. I had visually checked the junction block several times, and it always seemed fine. But this time as I was using a jumper wire on it to attempt to trace this issue I noticed something. There are four wires attached to the junction block, and they were all loose. The bottom one had a round wire connector that had once been turned sideways/diagnally when the junction block nut was tightened on top of all of them. It apparently stayed sideways which gave the truck power, but then the vibration loosened it, and it no longer acted as a connector since it created space between the other connectors. I know this is what happened, because I know that I did not leave that nut so loose. The junction block completely obscured this wire issue.
So it still turns over, but does not fire.

The truck is running again!!!!!!!!!! Now I am MAD!!!!
It has taken me until today to be able to work on the truck due to work and inclement weather.
After I found this joke of an electrical problem and fixed it, I began to look for the next problem. And to accomplish this I simply looked to the one place where I had not looked yet that I was so sure could not possibly be the issue...
THE GAS TANK!!!!!!

Yes!!! And there I found an even bigger joke!!! EMPTY!!!!!!!
This perfect storm was all a big celestial joke on me!!!!
The junction block wire started popping loose coincidentally at the same time that unbeknownst to me the gas tank was running low, AND when I was moving dash wires out of my way to work on the interior!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This all created the illusion that I had somehow disabled the entire electrical system by moving those damn wires!!!!!
Two gallons of gas sure did not go far in this truck that I have,so far, only driven in my driveway!!!!
This goes to show how truck mechanical/electrical symptoms can be coincidental and very misleadling!!!!

Yes, I knew THAT was coming!

But I installed the gauges and got the fuel one working today, so this will never happen again!
