Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

Has anyone ever come up with an explanation of "why" some plates smell like B.O.? 8 have aset of Illinois plates from the year I was born (1971) and they smell horrible, even after multiple washings.

Funny you should mention that. I was at a swap meet not long ago and noticed the same thing at one particular vendor's spot. I figured it was him. Sorry dud, whoever you are. If you actually bath more than I gave you credit for maybe it's time to wash your plates with Irish Spring!

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

I'll be running these soon. Already paid $263 for collector plate registration for next 5 years, might as we'll run YOM tags!

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

Here's my '71 Jimmy with the new-to-me Yellow/Black ARIZ '69-'72 plate.
Cost me $12 at ADOT/MVD to transfer the registration.
1] YOM installed.
2] Getting set up.
3] Long shot.
4] Regular plate.

I assume it's just the reflective coating aging/decomposing. I've noticed the smell too on all my old plates.
