Re: barn find 67 c-10

Most of the 4/6 drops with 20's run a 295/40/20 So in comparison (for the rear)

295/25.4 = 11.61in wide
275/25.4 = 10.82in wide

Keep in mind, with a 15" wheel vs. 20" wheel you might have a little more sidewall 'puff' so the overall section width of the tire might be slightly larger than what of a truck with 20's.

In the rear, you are to a nice advantage in that a 67 rear end housing is 1.5" narrower than a late 69-72 housing. (so you can run less backspacing and make your wheels look wider)

Ex. 4/6 drop and narrow housing.

I would run a 20x10 with 5" BS and 295/45/20 (I just like a little more sidewall)

The same drop with a late housing, 20x10 with 5.5" BS This just offsets the extra width of the axle. I would think (just my opinion) on a 15x10, 5" BS would sit you nicely. Others may chime in and that's cool. Just my thoughts on it.

Up front, you might be a little tight with a 15x8. What I mean is the lower A arm specifically. I wouldnt sit it too far back under the truck just for turning and overall suspension clearance. This is not so much of an issue running 20's or the larger wheels just due to the diameter and of course more clearance in this area.

likewise, most run a 20x8.5 up front, with 5.25" BS. 255/40/20

255/25.4 = 10.03" wide either scenario but remember the sidewall 'puff' .. not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind. If it were me, I'd do the 15x8 with 4.75" BS. My thinking is 8" vs 8.5" in my previous example. You'd knock off the extra wheel width from the backside and help with the clearance issues but that tire is going to be out there too. .. humm. 5" BS on all 4 corners?

Not responsible if it doesn't fit.. I'm just saying, that's my logic on it. Hope it helps. Comparing an early housing and discs up front as the baseline. Non modular, or big brakes.

Re: barn find 67 c-10

You can't run a drop spindle, and a 15x8 wheel with any more than 4" BS up front.
The greater BS will drive the rim right into the lower a-arm.
(even with 4" BS you have to trim the lower a-arm for clearance)

It is possible to do with 17" and larger wheels.
(Don't know about 16" wheels, because I've never tried it).

Re: barn find 67 c-10

For 5-lug 15" steel wheels,... I would use Wheel Vintiques Series 62 steelies.
But I would run a 7" rim up front.

215/70 or 225/70,... so the tire has some height.
255/60 is too wide.

I have a set of custom made rally wheels that are 15x8 with 5" BS.
(Stockton wheel made them for me years ago)
You can't even bolt them on a 5-lug rotor.

Man I really appreciate all the input!! So with 15x7's up front would you run 15x10's in the back or 15X8's?

Nice truck! So glad to see that the patina is staying. I give my right one for a truck like that to build.

OK, I looked online for these wheels and the 15X7 wheel has 4.25 inches of backspacing will that be ok with the dropped spindles?

Those 217/70's are pretty rare in fact. You can only buy them in MO as I understand it.

To tell you the truth,... I don't know.
I know 4" BS will work.

I think Dino has some 15x7's on his newest project, with drop spindles.
They look like they clear fine,... but I don't know his backspace numbers.

Re: barn find 67 c-10

I like a 7 and 8 combo,... because there aren't many tires that look correct (to me) on a 15x10 rim.
Except a 26X12.00R15LT Mickey Thompson Tire.

Re: barn find 67 c-10

ORDERED!!!! 2-15x7 and 2-15x8 wheel vintique 62 series. Thanks for all the input on the wheels. I'm a member of several forums but this one is by far the best out there!!!

I'd like to give 67Anthony a special shout out for donating a piece of trim for Sally. He saw in the pic she was missing one and sent it to me. I told my mother in law about it and she said "AWW bless his heart!"

Re: barn find 67 c-10

I have 2.5 drop spindles, and 15x7's with 4" bs. I have had a heck of a time keeping inside wheel weights on the front. They have been interfering with the outside edge of the LCA, just outboard of the ball joint.

BTW, I absolutely LOVE your truck, and what a cool story! Subscribed.

You have to trim the lip on the lower a-arm to clear your wheels.

Looks good. Are you using something like CLR to remove the surface rust before buffing, or just hitting it with the buffer and compound?

I'm using just the buffer. I know very little about buffing so I'm sure there's an easier way.
