Did pretty good at the sprap yard this morning...12 tags from 1958 to 1967 for $1.34.

I would say that is the original plate for your truck.

That would be a correct plate for a '70, and if DMV just treated it like a regular plate then it's a plate that was originally attached to the truck in 1970, though not necessarily the first plate that has ever been on the truck. The month sticker is interesting though, it looks like it's white letters on red maybe? I've only ever seen hashed red on white (original issue month stickers) and blue on white which is the current month stickers, there is also black on white 1" square month stickers for the first couple of years of blue and yellow motorcycle plates.

That month sticker was from the early 2000's.
The plate was non-opp'd, then the owner before me re-instated it.
They gave him a new month sticker.

Id imagine the same will go for mine....whenever the reg shows up.... 6 months later.

Interesting, when I look for it in google images I only see the hashed red on whites and blue on whites, nothing for California with white letters.

Truth be told, in my younger days I drove a truck around in California for 2 years with Alabama plates with month stickers in both corners, didn't get a ticket, well until I did.

so I just bought a in plastic 67 louisiana plate. I cant seem to find out online if I can register this plate. I figured for 10 bucks I could just put it on the front if they wont let me use it as the main plate

Here's one on my GTO. Found them as a set on eBay a several years ago with some rust on it. Sanded it down and repainted. Masking the numbers and letters was the hardest part.

Farm truck tags '72 k2500 ('72 sticker on back) and a set of '71 Virginia truck tags I just picked up in case someone in VA needed some. Years ago (before they let you use YOMs) I bought a set of unissued '72 Virginia truck tags for a show truck I had. I'm probably going to move there in the next few years,so finally they will suit my truck. I just wish they said TH400-383 because that's where I'm headin' with that truck

My Arizona plate. This is the correct plate for my 71, and I found it used on eBay for $4.99 shipped, as I recall. No issues getting it put on my truck - I just took it to the MVD and they issued a new registration and current year sticker, no charge.
