350 block number

On the rear drivers side behind the head the number reads 3970 10. I cant find this number anywhere. It looks like between the 0 and 1 there is some numbers missing. I have cleaned the block good and that is how it reads.

You’re missing the zero.
The 3970010 block is a common 350 block.

No, but in casting it is possible that some numbers are accidentally left off.

Yep. Because it was made in a sand mold. Even with a hardening agent to hold the sand together the small numbers sometimes get obliterated.

Ok did some checking today and number seven cylinder has a lot of taper. I checked the top with the ring installed and there was about 55 thousandth between the ring gap and at the bottom the gap was about 35 thousandth. This appears to be the worst cylinder as the other on I check was not that bad. How do the wrist pins install in the pistons. Are they heated and pressed or is there a snap ring? The engine is a 1970

With that much taper I'd have it bored out. Probably will go .030 over and then new pistons. I had a little more taper than that and they bored it out .040 over.

Local machine shop told me they would press the wrist pins in the new pistons for about $7 each.
