It looks nice and clean regardless, but I did notice that extra line going past the T block. I was referring to the two "FO" front out ports on the bottom of the Prop valve. Did you just plug one of the "FO" ports? I haven't seen an instance where two front brake lines were ran to the separate front brake calipers I don't suppose.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

Didn't get a lot of shop time this weekend. I am working on cleaning up a lot of little projects that need to be done on the build. One of them is the support bracket for the cold air intake. I have a bad habit of leaning over the front of the truck and laying my arm on the intake and it slowly sinks down. So, I made this bracket that uses the factory holes on the alt bracket tower. Turned out pretty clean.

It's all in the details! I took the same approach, but mine isn't as low-key/hidden as yours. Now I'm gonna have to redo mine...

Ah, sorry. I did just plug one of the holes on the prop valve.

I thought so, no worries. Nice job on the intake tube holder...nicely thought out.

Would you be able to tell me what radiator hoses you used? I was able to see the upper in one of your posts. It looks like a Gates 21439. Can you confirm and tell me what you used for the lower? Thanks a bunch. By the way... nice idea on the intake support!

Upper Radiator Hose = Gates 21439
Lower Radiator Hose = Gates 20687 had to cut the end off

The AC puzzle continues...but, I'm making progress. I wish I had purchased the polished compressor now. Happy with how it is coming together so far.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

That looks really good man. I really like the bulkhead connector. I wish I knew about those before I got started. And tell me about your hose routing under the compressor, did you just want those tucked under compressor? I'm trying to figure out how your gaining anything tucked so far under when the rest of hoses will be coming across the inner fender. I like where your going with that is what I'm trying to say. And maybe you can just polish the compressor yourself? I wouldn't think it would be too hard? Or perhaps sell yours and get the polished. Cuz I agree, all that shiny would look sweet.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this yet! LOL That is the problem. I want the four hoses to lay as close to the frame and inner fender as possible so I am trying to get the down in that direction. I may end up rolling the compressor back up and see where the fittings land. The only hose I see giving me fits right now is the one that runs to the condenser. I thought about sending this compressor back to summit and ordering the polished one. I assume they would take it back. I may try to sell this one...dunno. Polishing this one sounds like a lot of work

I did the same as you. Ordered the same compressor, but I wanted the standard finish because I thought it fit better with the look of my engine bay. My alternator and accessory bracket are not polished and I thought if I had a polished compressor, it would be too much. I kind of wished a bought it with a rear exit head though and not the type that you and I have. I had mine oriented like yours and I just flipped it up. I know for proper operation, they don't like to have them turned to where the ports are facing down. I think it's OK sideways, but I got a little nervous and just flipped it up. I bought the Vintage Air, 35137-VUG-A (non-polished) line kit. Looks like that's the way I'll go. I'm also using VA's EZ clip system and planning to route my lines out of the fresh air vent. Struggling with that now.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

derotoreut first let me say how good your truck looks!

I rotated my compressor back up right and took a look at hose alignment and opted to rotate it back on its side. VA told me that it would be fine at this angle and the hose kit was made for it to be tilted. I mocked up the hoses and of course need a couple different fittings, but overall I think I am going to like this.

I also planned to run behind the fender into the vent, but realized that in order to make the bulkhead plate work there I was going to have to cut open the cab again. I didn't want to do that. I also feel that having the bulkhead on the firewall balances the brake booster out some.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

Hey it looks really good. I'm glad VA confirmed the operation with the side way mounting. The firewall bulkhead looks real good too. I kind of wish I went that route now, since I'm running into a few issues, but I'm too fare into it and already got my firewall insulation installed. Keep up the good work and appreciate the comments.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

Haven't been able to get a whole lot done on the truck. I did get the hydro/pwr steering hoses sorted out and the AC/Heater hoses routed. I now need to get them all crimped. Have a pretty good list of things to get done prior to paint in early June.

Nice work. It looks great. It looks like you used 90-degree molded heater hose lines. I'm doing the same on mine. Keep up the good work. I just posted some of the AC/heater hose mounting on my K10 build thread. It's a challenge for sure.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

Added an additional fitting into the AC to allow the PCM to control the idle and the fans. This came with the BP Automotive harness. It forced me to change one of my hose routing and now I'm pretty close to the header. Something I will have to monitor to see if it gets it too hot. Overall, the engine bay is a little busier than I wanted, but I am happy with how it is turning out.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

Is that a sensor or a switch to sense the line pressure that in turn will tell the PCM to increase the idle when the compressor is engaged or turn on the fans when the pressure gets high?

This is an AC pressure transducer. It tells the PCM to turn on fans and increase idle.

I would like to see this truck in person as you have provided so many ideas that I will be incorporating into my build when time permits. This is one of my favorite builds to follow. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see it finished.

Re: 1971 Stepside LS Build

I'm glad you went with the transducer. I will be curious so see how this all turns out as I may end up using that module as well. So did you end up using the VA binary switch for the compressor as well? In your last picture I see something installed but can't tell from binary to trinary.
