I didn't think it was very difficult to shave drip rail, more nerves being a first timer.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Looks great, I'd radius the bottom corner of the top bracket side franges about 1/2-3/4" to match the curves on the lower brackets.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Hey, That looks sweet!! I'm sure the studs you are using will work perfect, but Autozone has a universal shock mounting stud with bushings and everything in the HELP section.

What was the rear out of again?

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Hey Tyler and Don, i agree with OrrieG, and radius the top brackets aleo to match the lowers, once you have everything cleaned up, i think that they will work great. you have plenty of clearance and what not, for being just a famer and a farmer's son, you guys are doing good. Works well with using the original brace instead of making a new one.

Ben the rear differential is out of a Camaro, same one we used for the front clip.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Well thanks to James making such good progress, Tyler thinks we need more pictures on. We finally got fuel tank mounted so we were able to flip frame over and do some welding that needed to be done on the bottom in different places.. Here are some more pictures.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Glad too see that the tank i gave you fits perfect, talk about made for it, the way you mounted it looks good Tyler and Don. The mounts look good for the shocks, glad to see that you got that steering box off, after much agony i hear, was it rusted to the frame or...... And all i have to say about those bolts is ouch.. Way to go, so what are you gonna tackle next, the engine, clean and paint it or the rest of the cab, oh, and i will bring my shrinker out so you can start on that winsheild frame, because you know that you guys want to get on that, sorry, i will come down this weekend to do it, i hope.

Later. James, Harleigh and Dakota at the computer downstairs.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Progress is good, like the radius on the upper mounts, just that little touch makes a difference. I found a few bolts like that on mine when I took it apart, my lower door hinge pins were already in two pieces and the back front spring shackle bolts were a rattle fit. I would think about a piece square tube the same height as the bed cross braces between the rear spring perchs were the crossmember was removed. When loaded the top of the perches will try to deflect inward and might warp the frame.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

Hey guys progress looks GREAT! I'm really interested in the blazer tank. Even to get a BRAND new one at autozone is only $125 Which obviously is WAYYY cheaper than the alterntative fabricated tanks.

Do you have any pictures of how it is mounted?? I would really like to see that, because this is definately the route I will go. Can't wait to see more!!
