Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Finally got my radio wiring fixed. I didn't have the 12v constant wire hooked to a constant source It works great and sounds so much better than the old one.

I also swapped in the new gauge cluster that has a temp gauge instead of the warning light. Got a much cleaner lens as well

Moved the mudflaps closer to the rear tires and change tailpipes from dumping just behind rear tires to rear of the bed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Been moving along this summer.
Got the AC in and the engine running, It actually moves under its own power for the first time in 9 years.
Tonight we finally finished all the painting, both fenders and the grille support. I may actually drive this thing next spring.

I had a "ziptie moment" My exhaust hanger broke and I had to use zipties to hold it up. I felt like I was channeling David Freiburger

I had to Google who David Freiburger was. Gosh, I think I'd fit in with those fellas. Kinda scary, that.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I built a clutch master cylinder bracket that bolts on the inside of 60 truck. I bought a 3/4 bore master cylinder from speedway motors and made it work very clean and simple. Might sale some on the parts side of the forum.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Cut off the zip ties and replace the exhaust hanger. I ended up doing both sides. The bracket broke off at the hole where it bolts to the frame. I think it was because the bracket hole was larger than the one in the frame. So a smaller bolt was use which might have caused vibration in that location.

Mocked up Frankentruck's Christmas present to make sure everything clears.

Should I keep them red or paint them black?

I think with that patina they should be Maroon Colored.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, but I might try to paint them as close as I can to the original 505 green. I think green wheels with white caps would look real nice

Got the tailgate on and the windshield in. Neither was an easy task.
Happy to say they are behind me.

Updated the cooling system between Christmas and New Year by modifying the fan shroud and changing out the fans to Derale Performance HO 12-in. fans and inset mounting them on the shroud. The temps stay steady now at 180 in stop-go L.A. traffic.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I removed my old jazz fuel cell in order to make room for my new Boyd tank. And new AN 6 fuel line which will replace my old and too large AN 8 fuel line. I am not sure whether to go with braided stainless an line or stainless hard line. I have had the tank for around 15 years.
