Help me spend 5 grand

I may be getting 5 grand to spend on my truck and not sure what I should spend it on. What would you do? I'd prefer maybe mechanical, suspension, and wheels? Would love to do a Ls swap but not sure what that would run me. Engine runs pretty good just need to fix a few leaks but I don't know how many miles are on it. Has a 350 350. So possibly a new crate 350? I'd like to do a notch, drop spindles to get to a 5 7 drop or maybe bag it? Maybe finish interior. Ac is high on the list too, just moved to Clearwater beach Florida. Any mechanical shop recommendations around here? I'm working on the body myself. I know I can't do everything but would like some suggestions.
This is what I'm working with.

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

Fix the engine leaks. (sure doesn't look leaky!)
Install O/D trans.
Install aftermarket a/c.
Tail light bezels.
That should pretty much leave you broke again, but with more fun on your hands driving to the po house.
Any $ left over - low budget disk brake upgrade. Might even put this above the trans upgrade... (unless you've already done that.. 5 lugs I see(?))
Nice looking truck btw. If you've already done the disks, maybe some interior resto, if you need it.
And maybe your last $5 on rattle can semi-gloss black to detail your grille letters and headlight buckets
EDIT: Ok, sorry, keep getting more ideas for YOUR $5K. And I'd throw on a factory C10 air cleaner or a dual snorkel (black).

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A/C IN FLORIDA ! NOTHING ! and some good window tint . You just moved there . I lived there for a LOOOOONG time .Without A/C you'll park that truck .

Oh , And good polarized sunglasses !

It's warm there today wait until summer shows up next week , and August well ... invest in a/c !

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

5k:

2500 -- Wheels and tires
1200 -- A/C kit from VA ( Doesn't look like you have factory air cab )
1300 -- lower it with springs, spindles, bolt on c-Notch and shock relocaters

That should fix you right up...

Looks good as it sits. Love the steelies and skinny whites.

I'd static drop it, add A/C, PS and fix the little things jocko mentioned

I moved here about 2 weeks ago I'm ready for some jet skis or a boat. That's all I see everyday from my backyard. The truck might have to wait lol.

I like your suggestions. I put in a 3 5 drop already, new Springs and shocks. All I need is the notch, drop spindles and blocks.

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

If the engine runs fine, I would suggest leave that part alone. The whole truck looks great. I especially like that wood bed. I suggest get a bowtie emblem for the hood, 8/350 emblems for the fenders, add some lower trim on the sides, make that fuel line steel or stainless steel 100% the way from fuel pump to the carburetor, take care of that bit of rust at the top of the windshield and make sure your seam sealer is good in the gutters. I like comfort items in the cab, so if it were mine, I would concentrate on that for most of the budget and make the inside super-duper.

Thanks for the great info. So far my wife and I don't think we will ever live anywhere else. Moving from Los Angeles we would have never been able to afford to live on the beach.

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

Maybe tighten up all the suspension and steering so it could drive like a new truck and maybe an OD trans... Those would be a couple things I'd throw at it.

Re: Help me spend 5 grand

If brakes, steering, and the drive train are good, you might fix the leaks as suggested. Do I see hints of rust along the gutter? Perhaps it's along your window frames as well? If so, there's a good priority.

Not sure what to say about your paint. Personally I like the body and paint just as it sits, but it doesn't match the interior and inner bed. Safe bet that was originally light olive? If it was blue, then I'd have suggested repainting the white top, and perhaps the inner bed. Sorry man, I'm not a big fan of the black with that seat and interior.

Other than that, I know little about drops, but that appears dropped as it sits. Though I like the wheels on it, fat rims and tires would look cool on that truck.

Nice truck..........
