What to look for???
So im heading out to the junkyard today, and was wondering what small parts i should be looking for that are rare or hard to find parts that are on our trucks. I went to this junkyard last weekend and they've got about 8-10 67-72 chevy, and gmc's. Alot of them seem to still have everything inside. I didnt have much time so i got the wiper arms i needed and a gas pedal for my '70 for $15 bucks. I also need a gas tank, and i seen one that still had the original cap on it and seem to be in great shap, but i needed a flashlight to see inside. He said $25 for the gas tank. I thought that was a good deal. I also saw a front chrome bumper on a '69 that was mint. Makes me think this place hasnt been picked over to much. Atleast not for 67-72 chevys. I will try and take a few pics and post them when i get back.

Keep your eyes open for an offset air cleaner (on the I-6s with brake booster), and power steering pump brackets (also for the I-6) - if you find any, let me know.
There is a thread I start awhile ago about making up a list when hitting the yards - it didn't build up much steam and for the life of me, I can't find the thread again....

You might already be aware of this but just in case your not there are a lot of good products out there for cleaning and refurbishing the inside of gas tanks. I know that when I was running my Corvette parts company most of the Corvette suppliers sold these products. Eastwood probably has a line on products for this as well. Just make sure it's not a leaker.
I'm happy to see that the parts store (auto wreckers) are being used. I make a point of going out every month at least once to keep up on things. If you do not find anything that you need go over to the newer trucks/cars and scrounge rubber tubing or the corrigated harness shielding to wrap wire harnesses in. A couple bucks spent here will save you twenty at your local auto supplier. I personaly get this stuff for free because I frequent and support my favorite wrecker so often that he can't be bothered charging me.  @ the wreaker.esll.

I like to get original plastic wire connectors. You can buy the little metal inserts at NAPA. With the inserts and an undamaged, unmelted connector, you can make any wire you want, any color you want. And it looks and behaves as stock.
