Shift linkage help
im sure this is a dumb question for most but what is the trick from hooking up the shift linkage to a 4l60e ? is it as simple as putting the trans in park, putting the column in park and hooking up the linkage?

Honestly I have no clue but it seems like that's how it would be done. What shift linkage are you using? I know the Lokar ACA-1800 is recommended by a lot of the guys doing ls swaps

I used the factory linkage on my 82. I put mine in park to start with and hooked it up. Fine tuned from there. The factory linkage may not let you pull it all the way down into 1st gear. I think the ratio is a little diffrent from the later models. Not a problem for me . I never put it into first gear anyways. It all works great for me. You could by a aftermarket setup but if you dont manualy put it into first gear you would never know the diffrence. I elected to save the money for other things.

That's how I did mine to start with then adjusted from there to get things just right.
I used this linkage:  Amazon.com: Lokar ACA-1800 Billet Adjustable...It fit fantastic and is easily adjustable to get things perfect.

i used the stock linkage put it in park and lined it up i havent tried driving with it yet but i should be fine

thanks for the help. i assumed it was that easy just wanted to double check. one last question in regards, right now i have the trans in neutral to move it around...how do i find park? (im sure another dumb question) Do i just manual shift the trans back (clockwise) towards the rear of truck till it stops? (if that makes sense)

Everything I have read says to put the column and transmission in neutral then hookup and adjust the linkage. This worked for me. I also used the lokar rod style linkage. I used my original linakge to get the bends fairly close and fine tuned after that.
