Re: Shop/Rat/Art/Truck new thread

Today was finally the day. I rolled her out of the garage to lift the cab off. I like the rear end like that. A little short flat bed is going to look pretty trick. I haven't been able to get back far enough from it to really check it out. I'm excited but I won't see her like this again for awhile.

Here's the contraption I made from scrap to attach to the cherry picker. Those brackets securing it are the U bolts brackets from 72 rear end. Kinda fun. lol

I had a buddy over to help steady the cab while we lifted it. It went super smooth. I did a lot of preparation. It was more preparation than I expected but I'm glad I put the time in.

Everything tucked away for the night. Now the real work begins.

I hade a few minutes this morning to fire up the pressure washer and clean things up before I start stripping it.

This poor cab mount was barely hanging on. Hahaha!

Re: Shop/Rat/Art/Truck new thread

I pulled the crossmember and everything else off the front today. I got one of the rear cab mounts off and I'll do the other tomorrow as well as remove the rear end. Then finish wire wheeling it up to get ready for paint. I hadn't planned on doing any if this but here I am. LOL

She's naked. Time to clean her up.

Re: Shop/Rat/Art/Truck new thread

Its been awhile. I haven’t been able to work on my truck. Work has been busy and I hurt my hand. I’m a tattooer so I had to baby mitts for awhile. haha I’m back at it though. I brought in the one ton suspension and mocked it up under my frame. I had a little too much time to stare at the bare frame so my head went wild with ideas. The theme is the same but I’m making changes. I’m bagging it all and laying frame. Gonna build a new rear end when I notch it and shorten the wheelbase at the same time. Here it sits at 113”. The frame and flat bed will stop at about where that crossmember is.
