Whats it Worth?: 1970 Chevrolet K20 Custom Camper
First off, let me say I have joined as a Premium Member, so hopefully, I am in compliance with Forum rules. Also, as a quick background, I have or am in the process of restoring several vintage autos (61 Impala, 64 Riviera & 65 Thunderbird convertible), but have never taken on a truck.
That being said, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed this vehicle parked outside practically across the street from me. After driving past numerous times, I finally had to stop and take a closer look. Seller tells me it is one owner registered, and after inspecting it, zero rust that I could see (thinking it lived its life in So Cal desert, which is where I am). He's asking $9100. Don't know if the engine is original, stamping was hard to read. A/C is butchered. And, its obviously been repainted. I really dont need another project...but this was interesting, so I figured I'd check with guys who live and breath this era Chevy truck for some thoughts, thanks alex |

9100 seems a little steep to me with missing parts. Any pics of the inside?

It's not a "K", since it appears to be a two wheel drive.
If it were actually a 4x4 that would be a fair price. Might still be fair for a 2WD, someone with knowledge of the local market will chime in.

Should have said C20. My mistake.
I noticed the headers & missing brake booster as well. I kinda figured he was asking too much, so I appreciate the input. How the heck did you decipher the engine code?! Here is the interior. Wrong seats too. Orignally a saddle interior. Again, thank you gentlemen. |

I dunno, the fact that it has no rust and the body looks to be fairly clean, it might be worth it. You'd spend a lot of time and money fixing rust. Does it really make a difference if it has a newer block in it. Look at all. the LS conversions. that's not stock and have you looked at the prices of those! He probably ditched the AC as the stock brackets don't work well with headers. I've seen on this site rust buckets that go for 3-4K. Probably too much for a flipper, but someone who wants a project might not be too bad.

What is the repair/bad paint above the front wheels on both sides? I like a LWB and a 3/4 ton so that wouldn't bother me and neither does wrong engine; but I think it is steep for what it is. May be 1-owner, but it's not unmolested. That said, rust is expensive to fix so maybe good price if that is what you want. But if you want to change everything I would keep looking.
