Talking Sign Sunday

So how about we have "Sign Sunday" where you take a photo next to a road, store, historical marker, etc.?

I'll start with 5 that I took on my Sunday morning drive around town. Hope you like some of them

Kyle Cemetery Historical Marker Number 10290
Many people instrumental in the early development of this area are buried in Kyle Cemetery. Colonel Clairborne Kyle, one of Hays County's original settlers, buried his adopted son, willie Parks, here in 1849. Although Parks' interment is the first recorded at this site, local tradition claims that a man found hanging from a live oak tree located within these cemetery grounds was the first person buried here; that tree was thereafter referred to as "the hanging tree." Although it is believed that Claiborne Kyle set aside fifteen acres of his land surrounding these early interments for use as a community the first legal document mentioning Kyle Cemetery is a deed executed by his son, Polk, donating 5 acres for a burial ground in 1877. five additional acres were purchased for the cemetery in 1899 from Jason and Fannie Wilson by trustees w. L. Stephenson, J. H. white and d. W. Benner. Another five acres were donated to the newly incorporated cemetery in 1906 by O. g. Parke. Among the gravesites here are those of many area pioneers, including the Claiborne Kyle family, Edward Burleson, Jr., Ezekiel Nance, and veterans of the American Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.

Like that filling station picture. Good looking truck also! For laughs I thought I'd post a pic of my favorite picnic spot!

Re: Sign Sunday

Hey there Lakeway Neighbor!

Did you get yours from Gerald from Vernon, Texas (License Plate Restoration)? Then I'd says so - my brother knows him and I believe he gets all his plates from him.

Re: Sign Sunday

One Sunday last year...

The following sign description is from the website RoadArchitecture.com

The Gage Motor Mall Chevrolet sign was built locally and installed in 1965. The sign shop did the job in trade for a 1966 Chevy Caprice. The dealership was known as Miller Chevrolet then. The sign has been designated a landmark by the City. There are no other Chevrolet signs of this style and size known to exist. The blue and white bowtie shaped sign is 34 feet wide and 10 feet tall. It has 26 transformers and more than 1,200 feet of neon tubing. It was refurbished in 2012. By 2015, the dealership had been renamed Preferred Chevrolet. This sign is still there. Oh! I can do one like that -

Hank Graff Chevrolet (formerly Robert Uptegraff Chevrolet) in Davison, Michigan.

This is the dealership that both my Chevelle and my truck were ordered from and delivered through.

Re: Sign Sunday

These might be a little out of bounds, but in a similar vein (and - I did take them on a Sunday: Father's Day, 2011):

This is my dad's GTO at the location of the former "Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiac" (most recently Jim Fresard Pontiac/Buick), which is the dealership it was delivered through in September of 1964.

It has since been torn down.

Re: Sign Sunday

It may have been a Sunday I don't remember (It has been several years), but I took a trip to Salem and while I was there I looked up the address of Capitol Chevrolet that was in the back of the owners manual for the Burban. As I was pretty sure that was the original building I got a photo. Then on the way out of Salem I saw the new location and swung by an got a photo there too.
