Do you have any pics of the pinch weld removal process? I'm interested in maybe doing this but I haven't seen anyone else's pics or explanation. Was it difficult? I know removing the pinch weld was the most difficult area of the firewall for me.

I actually just rolled it under. Next time I have the cab off I need to do some clean up on it because it wasn't that easy to do on the ground and it could use a bit more straightening in some areas. Some parts of it were pretty stiff so I cut a few vertical slots so I was bending smaller pieces in those areas. If you do decide to actually cut it off then just cut a small amount at a time and tack it together. If you cut the whole thing off at once you will have a mess.

Re: Project '86

Trimmed the bottom off the driver side fender and started working on the fender lip. Finally had to give my buddy's wheels back so I am back on the 15's.

Re: Project '86

i see you said you welded the cab mounts back on. Why were they removed in the first place? Was it to move them lower?

They are riveted on from the factory. In order to get the 2x4 tubing to lay flat in the frame I had to remove all the rivets. I could have drilled holes and bolted them back on but welding is easier. They were put back in the stock locations.

Re: Project '86

Yea, I would park stuff out front when trying to sell it. You probably saw my '74 Nova, my bagged extended cab, or the 2 door tahoe.

Going to mount the air tanks and start plumbing today if the rain holds off so hopefully I will have updates by the weekend.

Check it out, my truck is on a shirt! My buddy used a pic of my truck for one of his shirt designs. I don't want to break any rules about advertising in the forum so if anyone wants more info just PM me.

Re: Project '86

Kicked around a lot of ideas as to where to mount my tanks and finally decided the only place they would really fit is behind the rear wheels. Might need to make some shields to block anything coming off the rear wheels but that won't be hard.

Got all the stainless air line plumbed today and it seems to hold air pretty good. Ran out of daylight so tomorrow I plan to chase down any leaks.
