I want to do that to my 40 also. But I don't think I'll be able to get wheels that big on it yet.

Yea, I know 20's will fit on mine for sure. I am also going to do a 2" drop spindle in the front, with a disc brake conversion.
Should give me the stance I want.

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

Nice car. I think 65's are my favorite. I really like the look from the rear on those cars. Personally I like em with the Cragars or the Corvette style rally's. Thats probably because thats what they ran on em in the 70's in my HS days.

That looks good! Only thing I'd change, is ditch that flex fan!

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

Because they suck. They are notorious for tossing blades, and they aren't as efficient as a clutch type fan. Plus they are always on, engaged.

Oh, good call. I got it because it is about 30 lbs lighter than the 4 blade hunk of metal that was there before. If it throws a blade anytime soon, I will put a fan with a clutch on there.

careful, if it throws a blade it can damage your hood.

Does that happen often? I have never heard that it was even an issue worth considering...

Don't rev it high or blip the throttle and stick it again. Been there, ruined a few hoods.

I like the old 65-66 Impala SS's as well as some of the earlier and later years. I don't think you can go wrong with one no matter the year...

haha, I will remember that... It is only going to see around town driving, so I am not too worried that that will happen. I guess if it does, it would be a good reason for a clutch fan and a cowl hood

Re: My other passion...65' Impala SS

My wheels just arrived...I have disc brakes/2" dropped spindles in the mail as we speak (going to lower the rear with springs as well).
What do you think?

Thanks Diesel! Its nice to see my vision coming to life. I think the disc brake/dropped spindle and rear lowering springs will give it exactly the stance that I am looking for.

I appreciate it!
