I haven't heard anything good, just "it should be soon".

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

I talked to Jeff from ECE today and he had another option but I dont think it's worth it..

He said I can take my spindles off they can press out my PIN (Axle) and he can press in the smaller one that accomidates the standard rotor...

to much work if you ask me..

So Ill just wait for the wheels to come out..

hey NLPD, How was it you can tell the new design? I thought you said soemthing about part # or something.

THANKS!!

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Okay, heres what I know about the 1" rotor setup. They both came on square body trucks, so when my truck was converted to front disc using square body front brakes and crossmember it had the 1" setup. Somewhere along the way I decided to get drop spindles, but found they only came for 1.25" rotor setups at that time. So i converted to 1.25 rotors, which Then I needed to get 1.25 calipers. Not such a big deal. Now they have drop spindles for 1" rotor setups, so it's really not that hard to go with a 1" setup. I'm sure the ECE stuff is nice, but you may be better served going to a junkyard and getting some squarebody parts, it may be easier and cheaper in the long run.

And yes it is alot of trouble going through all this for some wheels, but so is building a truck rather than buying one. We are all a glutton for punishment on this board!

Hey Shawn,... thanks alot for confirming that the 1" calipers are different. Now I need to buy new calipers for my drop spindles.

I agree with you somewhat.
If you can go to a junkyard and get all good parts to use on your truck you are right.
If you need stock height spindles,... I agree also.

But,... If you are going to use drop spindles,... (like I've said before),... the only part I would re-use from a junkyard front end,... is the rotor dust shields and the bearing dust caps..

Everything else,... I would get new for reliability sake.
New, calipers, rotors, bearings, hoses, ball joints, and,... of course,... drop
spindles.

This is just my take on the junkyard parts.
I guess because all the squarebody junkyard parts around here,... are wore out.

Maybe, I'm more excited than everyone else about this because I was dreading the job of machining the rotors, and possible the wheels. And then having to try to glue on the modified centercaps.
Now everything can be fixed (for my truck anyway) by bolting on the 1" rotors.

Ya know' By the time you spend the time , effort and , oh yea the additional money ,you could just spend a little more and buy a wheel that actually fits. Or wait until the redesign comes out. But I guess this would be a futile argument if (like Me) you have already purchased the wheels. That being said the mods weren't that tough and if you follow this thread I spelled them out pretty wheel. GL

I agree^^.
I really liked these wheels when I saw them in Des Moines at the Goodguys show.

But then when I saw them on your 'burb,... I knew I had to make them work.

For me it's no additional expense,... since I hadn't bought spindles, calipers or rotors yet.

Wow, great thread! I was bummed to hear of the fitment issues until I got to the part about the LD rotors. I have 3" DJM spindles and 1" rotors. These wheels are definitely on my radar if they fit!

Just heard the staggered idea is pointless the rear rim does not have a bigger lip it's a smaller offset for newer tricks was what I was told. Good news was. 160$ a rim for grey 20's

well the picture of the red truck, look like the same lip...

but the wheels without tires, look like the wheel on the right (or further away) looks to have a bigger lip....

is that just my eyes?

The red truck has 20x8.5's front and rear. That's why they look the same.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

Okay...just got off the phone with Ray...apparently a part owner of Boss/Eagle wheels and got a depressing update. The new ETA for the revamped 338's are not due out for 8-12 weeks. Apparently they are not going to complete this "project" until after the SEMA show, which is the first week of Nov.

And for the guys with the LD rotors...test fit, because I had the LD rotors first and the wheels didn't fit my truck even then.

Sorry for the bad news!!

Did you come up with a new wheel part number that will fit the front of your truck?

I'm sure my LD rotors are GM originals. I wonder if the "parts house" rotors from China are different?

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5

^^^ I can't answer that, but the rotors I took off my truck could have very possibly been the original ones as the truck only had 87K miles on it when I got it from the son of the original owner. None of the receipts that came with the truck show anything but 1 front brake service and 1 rear.

Someone needs to send a rep at Boss/Eagle HQ's a link to this thread. Maybe seeing the large amount of interest in these wheels will cause them to pick up the pace......
