Before/After Pics of Blazers/Jimmys

Post up your before/after pics of recent projects
Show the beginning (when it came home) the ugly-est ever shot and finish off with current status.
Here's my adventure

Pic #1) Driving back to VT from AZ on route 66 in New Mexico

Pic #2) It got worse body wise...replaced inner/outer pass side rockers and front and rear pillars. Replaced outer rocker and total front pillar on drivers side.

Pic #3) Current status: Running/driving/all legal/having a blast

Did you use the img tags and the picture upload feature? I took out the extra pics.

It looks good in olive, seems like most ppl would paint a truck to get rid of that color not put it on, personally I love it.

I love the old route 66 drive through AZ and NM. I would love to do it again when my Jimmy is done.

This is what I started with, 72 K5. Full of rust.

No doors, top, dog house.

Had to drill out all the spot welds to seperate the front from the bed. Got a new bed to put on it.

The cleaning of the frame.

Painted Frame and cleaned up the wheels, alot.

Thats where I'm at right now. Just about got the engine ready to go in. Once thats done I'm ready to start the fun part, THE BODY. Thanks to Jamie, Renee, and Jim for helping me get this far!

Here are my before and after's....Bought from orig. owners son March 2003- we just finished her up this month. We LOVE driving it!
1st pic is a few years before we bought it- didn't look that good when we picked it up- the owner's daughter left it uncovered for about a year in the rain and it was FULL of water-

I can only post before and during pics cause I'm in the process of getting my K5 going. Can't wait to go topless!!

In the process right now of adding power brakes and a disk brake 3/4 ton Dana 44 and a 14 bolt rear axle with a Detroit. As soon as that is done I will replace all the rubber engine hoses and try to get her on the road.

JDog44- What kind of carpet did you use? That looks really clean! Would love more pics of the carpet and specifics on that interior.

Hey Diane thanks . I think it came out good. What i did was go to home depot and found a roll of carpet rements. I dont know what brand it is or anything . But i supose home depot carrys it . I got the carpet, adhesive, thin backing board, and pad for about 70 bucks. The carpet looks like tweed and has a rubber backing. The back was easy the front a little harder because i had to do more cuts to get it to lay right over the transmision hump. I also used the old carpet as a rough pattern

Re: Before/After Pics of Blazers/Jimmys

Another great thread resurfaced - thanks vtblazer!

Got some great updates now that I finally have my Blazer running after owning it for 3 years.

Out with the grungy 400 sbc which I then learned needed a rebuild

Then back in it goes a little easier on the eyes!

And here it is back where it belongs

Then a bit more work getting the 3/4 ton running gear installed and I'm finally able to drive the Blazer! I put a Detroit Locker in the 14 bolt FF while I had it out - figured the Blazer would feel inferior to my 69 K20 if it didn't have a locker.

Have a long way to go on this project. But it's amazing how much some paint & polishing will clean one up!

Re: Before/After Pics of Blazers/Jimmys

Not rust repair/body work kinda stuff but major mechanical stuff.

Took it from a total poser truck (big tires and open diffs ) to a fun/capable/dependable trail ride.

Huge list of changes, upgrades and repairs but ya just can't see em all.
The obvious ones are the fenders, rock sliders and dents.

Still morphing but closing in on 'done'.

A truck that can now actually be used and abused.

Re: Before/After Pics of Blazers/Jimmys

I'd love to post something here, but I don't have any after pictures yet. So far I just have pieces for after, and the after may not be so drastic. Like before engine and tranny, then after engine and tranny. Before door and floor, after door and floor.
