Has anyone changed out their turn signal lever? My intermittent wipers don't work right. I think the switch is worn out. I can't get the delay to speed up and slow down when I twist the control. They'll be delayed, but I can't adjust how much. Sometimes they'll go twice with no delay then stop for about 5 seconds then go twice more. This just started happening. My cruise control has been malfunctioning for quite sometime now. The cruise still works it's just the accelerate/resume speed function that isn't working. The on/off part of it works, and the "set" button on the end of the lever is fine. How hard would it be to put in a new lever? I don't want to pull it apart and not be able to put it back together. I imagine there will be a lot of little wires in there.

Starting about '94? There is a PC board on the wiper motor that will go bad. If yours has one, that could be your problem.

It's a '99. Any way to tell if it's the PC board or the switch?

Tap on the board cover and see if things change. In the past fifteen years I have changed out the circut board way more often than the switch. Check with dealer and see if it isn't even under the recall which many trucks were.

Open the cover on the circuit board. Check the four little sodered connections. In time they go bad. Get a small sodering gun and redo them. GM wipers are notorious for the board failure. Wiper just behave or stop working.

It is the square black plastic piece on the wiper motor. I t measures about 3"x3".

the wiper board is available aftermarket from Dorman (most parts store) for ~$30.
the pulse function works off a variable resistor in the switch which tells the board how slow or fast to delay. the low and high speed works by the switch sending seperate yet equal voltages to the board to energize both windings ibn the motor.
there is a flow chart which you use with a DVOM to test the system. maybe you can get it from Autozone.
the cruise switch is alot more money and way more work. it comes as part of the multi-function switch and they sell for around $120 from Standard. A/C Delco has them for about $20-$30 more. I would wait for something else to go wrong first. like turn signals acting up, headlights no dimming etc.

BTW, have you noticed a buzzing or fast clicking noise from the glove box after hitting a bump or using your turn signals? (bad multifunction)
