oh okay. i was thinking it was coil sprung rear. like a half ton.

then i guess he would have to get lowering shakles, or take a leaf or two out also.

Re: Show me your ratty hot rods!!!!

I have rear leafs. Cut one coil in the front. Stock rear. I get the "nice rake" comment constantly while driving. I wanna lower the rear, prolly with extended shackles, but i like the rake so much. lol. It gives it a "i'm about to pounce on you" look that i like. I might just keep it that way till i bag it. I don't think i wanna add more rake with blocks. lol. that'd look insane. i should try 2x4's to add a rake. lol. j/k.

If you like the rake I say injoy it lol.
Personally I have grown tired of seeing every truck slammed flat lowrider style.
Its good to see some people would rather role the hotrod style , even if i was going to go bagged and lowered you couldnt pry my rake out of me .
Raked is beautiful.

Re: Show me your ratty hot rods!!!!

aww diesel, shiny paint?! ha! that and the fact the both rear fender look like golf balls. she is no beauty queen.... just the way I like her.

oh well she is garaged.

funny story. my 2yo son loves playing in the bed. couple of days ago, he wants to play in the bed with his hotwheels. instead of waiting for me to pick him up and put him in, he lobs the hotwheels in from 10 foot out. all 12 of them and I let them fly. and I didn't care and helped....

that officially makes it a rat!! I don't care for the damage or extra hotwheel paint on the inside bed wall!!!!

Re: Show me your ratty hot rods!!!!

hmmmm. i may keep my stockers up front, with a 235/70.

then as for the rear i have some stock steelies off of i think a 4x4, theyre really wide, like 9 or 10 inches. im thinking a 255/65 for the rear.

any opinions??

Re: Show me your ratty hot rods!!!!

I think, at least with my 8 lugger, that the stock rear wheels are too narrow. I always thought wider rear tires would've looked alot better.
But this is coming from a guy with Freakin' commercial/bread truck sized tires. Weld two stock wheels together and run it like that. haha.

A customer at work has a set of really wide 8 lug rims. They're at least 10" wide. They're some kind of ford wheel but they're powder coated white and look really really nice. He's selling them. I only want 2 of them. I think they'd look goofy being that wide on the front of a 2 wheel drive truck. But, you always gotta be careful not to let too much early 90's "street rod" styling get into your truck. Know what i mean?

I remember being very young when all the hot pink with teel graphics, lightning bolts and splash designs. I always hated it. Never saw why anyone would wanna take such a "tough" looking vehicle and make it look that way.
But, i suppose some say the same when they see my vehicles. just my opinion. I always liked the steel wheel look. all my rides have em. I wanna get some 20's in steel.

Re: Show me your ratty hot rods!!!!

uh oh. I am so guilty of the neon splatter paint phase, circa 1990. I had a slammed '85 S10 that I used to show and compete in IASCA sound offs. man did I think that splatter paint and wide CHROME WHEELWELL trim was the shyite! actually won lot of shows with that crazy setup. we all must have lost our minds in the late 80's-early 90's. I'd post a pic but I'm too embarrased now.

I remember the hottest car on the show circuit in '87 was a pink '86 TBird. Seen it at the Street Machine Nats in DuQuoin IL in '87. Unfortunately I still have a pic of me beside it..... hardcore mullet, cut off jean shorts, neon green tank top, and red high top New Balance.

WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!!!
