1974 gmc

ok Boys and Girls I have a few blond questions If someone would indulge me please and thank you...

1974 GMC
Can you put a camper on any 1974 GMC or does it have to be a camper special??

If you only have a vin # would the vin tell you if it's a Sierra

Besides the DMV.. I tried them all ready .they dislike me their and car fax doesn't go back further than 1980
Where else could one find any information on a vehicle with only the vin# like owner of the vehicle. Ect.

Re: 1974 gmc

My trucks are Canadian so they may be different but all the trucks I have had from 73 to about 84 have the spid on the inner fender under the master cylinder. It does not say too much about the gvwr You should have a tag inside the door jamb that shows your weight rating as manufactured. I'll post a pic here right away of my 74 gmc. Yours may be different.

Sure. Just don't overdo it.

No. There is no coding in the VIN for trim level.

For vehicles manufactured in Canada, or made in the US for Canadian consumption, you can contact GM of Canada and they can provide you with the build content for your specific vehicle.

Information for US only vehicles through the GM Heritage Center is available for 1976 and later.

You will probably not be able to track down previous owners by the VIN due to privacy laws unless you hire a private investigator.

Re: 1974 gmc

Is your truck a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton? Longbed fleet side should fit almost any truck camper but it's the spring capacity that tells you if the truck will carry it safely or not. The model designation likely will not matter,
