Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Prepped the front floor pan and the bed pan. After the front floor pan was fitted by the gy doing my metal work, I brought it home, shot it in epoxy primer, then coated the bottom side in Rustoleum Semi-Gloss, reduced with acetone and used an alkyd enamel hardener. It came out glossier than I would have liked. The top of the front floor is Kirker Semi-gloss Synthetic Enamel with a hardener. The rear bed floor is just in epoxy primer.

BTW, I'm tempted to paint the rear bed pan while it is out. I will be replacing both bedsides. Do you think I can paint it now, then mount it and install bedsides without too much damage to the paint? It is hard for me to reach the middle areas to paint...

This is the expected body color, TCP Global Jet Black. I shot it the other day while painting my son's bike.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

I’ve been doing a lot of tinkering lately with the doors open so wanted bulbs that didn’t get as hot. The light is a lot brighter.

Thinking about this, too, for the same reasons. I just like the soft white lights so much better... just gotta get the right bulbs.

Washed and “waxed” today with some Meguiar synthetic product...I probably should have clay bar/waxed it instead.

Hosed out the interior....K/5’s are awesome!

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Loaded onto a flat bed for trouble shooting a new ticking sound coming from the original 350, which hasn’t yet clocked 600 miles. Looks like a sheared valve keeper and a chipped valve. Doh!!

What’s likely fix? Pull engine, pull head, replace valve?

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Damn! That sucks Pete!

I know I sure seem to have a lot of problems with newly rebuilt motors too.

Most of my problems have centered around comp cams roller lifters.

Sorry you're going through this!

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Found a lowered bench seat bracket for my 2wd blazer years ago.Readjusted the pas seat to match. Valve fix=make a sparkplug to air fitting then tdc and 100 lbs.push the spring down replace the retainer (maybe new) and cross your fingers, not to much to loose. I'v done it with a gismo that bolts to the rocker stud.

A lot to lose, when you drop a valve

Dale thanks. Clock ran out on that a while ago. I’ve been talking with the owner of the machine shop though. He’s a genuine guy and every bit the old, old school machinist you can imagine. Were I still in ABQ I’m sure he’d work with me to make it right.

Definitely one of the top Blazer's I've seen. Looks incredibly good!

Going to have to go with Steelies on the Jimmy.
