Difference in high hump hole location ??

I am looking at getting a hump to convert my 1969 C10 auto to 4 speed but came upon 2 different hole locations. What is the difference in application for these ?

Re: Difference in high hump hole location ??

I believe it depends on the location in which the engine is mounted. If it's a small block, there are two different mounting locations for the engine. The forward mounting being the stock location for 2wd. The rear mounting location being stock for 4x4. This would dictate how far front or back your trans will be, which determines where your shifter will come through the hump. Make sense?

Edit: Also if you have an inline six it will be mounted in the rear position so you will need the hump with the hole further back.

Well, the inline 6 theory makes more sense for this particular hump, since there is no second hole for a transfer case shifter.

Guess I'll stick with the forward hole cover and hope it lines up on the '89 chassis with bb and 5 speed.

Do you happen to still have the doghouse with the rear hole? I need one for my 292/465.

My V-6 GMC has the rear hole, and it's a 4X2. Having the New Process 435 transmission might make a difference too.

Mine is a 68 and has a 292 with a new process four speed transmission and takes the one in the second picture, which the hole is further back on the high hump.

Re: Difference in high hump hole location ??

All 3 engine families (maybe 4 with GMC V6) have the motor in a different location. The big block is the most furthest forward which is probably the first pic you have, then the small block in the 2nd pic.

4 wheel drives obviously have 2 holes for manual trans and one for autos.

If you need pics, I can post up both of my C/30 cab chassis 350/4spd and 292/4spd.

Thanks
