70 Chevy K20 door weatherstrip

I am a new member with limited computer skills so I apologize in advance for any errors. My question is: replacing my door weather stripping with a quality companys push on product has left me with hard to close doors. Before replacement both doors closed fine. I removed the new push on weatherstriping and tested both doors. Latches sound good, doors close fine. Put the new push on weatherstriping back on same problem as before. If I roll the Windows down it is better. Called the company but not much help. Maybe a member has had this happen and solved it. I'm thinking of trying another supplier. Thanks for your help. Try spraying WD-40 on the gasket. Letting the door sit windows up in the sun helps tremendously. Taking a Crecent wrench and slightly bend the pinch weld in at the tight areas helps, then install the gasket. Videos on Youtube if you have access...

Mine got better with time, within a month or two they were 90% better. No complaints now 3 years later.

Re: 70 Chevy K20 door weatherstrip

57taskforce, thanks for the info on the door seals. I see where the 1971 & up pickups have a built-in vent. With my windows down the doors do close easier. Just not a subscriber to slamming doors. mongo4298

Re: 70 Chevy K20 door weatherstrip

Over the years people adjust the doors because they get wind noise from the old seals . I used precision push ons on my 68 . I had to adjust the doors anyway as they were off the truck . I got everything to line up and it’s a breeze to close both doors . Even though my wife likes to slam doors anyway .
