Re: " Quality Time "

Managed to get some time last night and this morning to get the brackets off my buckets to prep them for powder coat or paint. Not my 1st time dealing with bucket seats. Managed to snap of (3) bolts in the process. The bottoms on these look real good but, I did not expect he bolts to be of different lengths. No biggie. A good cleaning, so foam repair and new covers, and they will look good as new.

Re: " Quality Time "

I may enlist your services my man since you know the area. My truck is about to go into the " paint shop jail next month ". It is currently taken completely apart to have the frame blasted and painted. The cab is at the body shop (Reynolds Body Shop on Washington St.). Getting some work done on the firewall.

I just stopped by to see my Dad today and he says the owner of the shop is about to have surgery so, this may put me in the back log for a little while. My old man is supposed to be heading back south in another month. It pays to have a friend local who can stop by and take some pictures if needed

Leave it up to my old man to find the good deals on his own. He scored (6) of these dog dish hub caps for $80 from an old man that has been collecting for (40) + years

Re: " Quality Time "

I could load up pages of this thread with pictures of that old girl!!!!!! I have been through many vehicles since I learned to drive but I have managed to keep that car for (27) years. She needs to have the power glide rebuilt and some new gaskets/ seals from sitting so long but, she is a runner!!!!!

Re: " Quality Time "

Update: Dad is heading back south with a truck bed full of parts for the Stepside. I may try to enlist portrodder's aid in getting some updated photos on here. Those old Skool guys like my Dad don't use smartphones or computers. I hate being in the dark on what's going on. That's what you get when you buy a truck (17) hours from home.........

Getting ready to head with Dad to one of " his " secret junkyards. I guess I will have to take note of where it is when we go tomorrow. He likes to keep some things secret since he finds these places off the beaten path that most people don't know exist..................

Re: " Quality Time "

portrodder was gracious enough to take time out of his day to meet up with my Dad and take some pictures of the truck before it gets taken apart. SPID sheet from the engine compartment is the most interesting of all. A shame the Pearl interior is not available on the reproduction market.....................

Re: " Quality Time "

Since I can't wrench on my truck at the moment, I decided to start trying to put together some interior pieces. Started with the seta belts. I am a big fan of the pre 73' seat belts. The seat belts retractors from a 69-72 truck, are more visually appealing to me as well as the clamshell style buckles. Picked up a complete set out of a 70' C10 for $ 15 buckles although the wrong color.

Took them apart. A hit the sink for a little clean up time. I think I am going to try and use the buckles of a 67' truck for the aircraft style latch and the Chevy Bowtie cast into the buckle itself. I may be dyeing the belts black to save some search time.

Re: " Quality Time "

Here is where we are at as of yesterday afternoon in lovely Calhoun, Louisiana.............. I guess we are fully committed at this point. Dad has been going full tilt on this thing and helped out Tommy with the tear down. He found a 67' short step that he wanted and made an offer on it. We will see how that goes
