Advice On Removing Shoulder Belt Blanking Plug

I bought a set of Morris Design 3 Pt seat belts to replace the original lap belts. The shoulder belt holes still has the Med Olive plugs in place. I would like to remove them without damage. Any thoughts how to do this..thanks...

Easy. Get a putty knife, put the blade under the edge of the plug and twist. They pop out. It's just polyethelene plastic, so it may be brittle after half a Century, but vendors carry replacements.

Thanks I didn’t realize that they where reproduced. They are perfect with the original paint finish. Thought someone might need them over a repop.

Thin putty knife works, or forked trim removal tool.

I think they are. Could be wrong. I don't care as all my trucks are work trucks.
I pulled out the one in my Stepside cab and hung an extra sunvisor clip for a coat hook. On my '67 K/10 Suburban, I pulled the one over the Passengers shoulder and the one over the drivers side by the rear liftgate hatch and mounted eyebolts in with threading that matched. Then I slung a canvas Navy hammock diagonally from those points. Saved on motel rooms.
On my '71 GMC Jimmy I put in a long bolt and hang a chainmotor bag and keep tools handy in there.

If you know a cable splicer, ask if you can borrow a sheath knife. It's perfect for removing those plugs, and comes in handy for a lot of other jobs too.

Here is the Part Number for GMCPaul's "Door Hole Access Plug'' -- p/n:360357 or 19723947. They are $2.00 each.
This one fits the Suburban Rear Door hole as well. If it's too large for the shoulder belt hole, I apologise for the misinformation.

360358 67-72 Shoulder Belt Hole Plug

Door access hole plugs would never work for the shoulder belts as they around 1" in diameter.

I know this is late coming to the posting, but if you heat them up a little first with a blow dryer it can soften them up a bit

I attempted to remove the original lap belts yesterday and looked at the plugs again. They are quite brittle. After hitting the bolts on the retractors with BP they turned pretty easy. I only turned them out a bit , sprayed again and snugged them up again. I then got underneath and hit the bottom of each bolt. Slow process but I don’t think I will break any off.

OK, Great. So you do carry them.
I had one of your 360357 Door Access Hole Plugs, crumble up on me when trying to put it on my passenger side door this Summer. So I used the other one. As they were then $1 [or $2] for a pair, it wasn't worth it to send it back. But since we're on the subject, I thought I'd mention it.
