Friday Night Cruising in the 72

My 17 year old was out for his second 'drive' of the night in his 01 Sonoma. He stopped at the quickie mart and I told him that Friday night cruises are a lot more fun in an older truck. He said what do you mean? I said the 72 would be much more fun tonight. When i was 17 i had a rolled over somewhat fixed 79 K5 and a 80 camaro. I remember driving for hours with nowhere to go. He showed up in less than 5 minutes and had the cover off. To be a kid again.........

Re: Friday Night Cruising in the 72

thanks. He loves it. I think i should have bought him a regular cab square body instead of his 01 ext cab sonoma. Most likely get the same fuel mileage. He gets 13mpg with the underpowered 4.3.

I think the 4.3 gets great mileage. 17-20 mixed in my buddies S10 hauling dirt bikes from what I remember. Sonny may need a tune up or a lighter foot! I think they are about 190Hp 250lb ft.

Nice rig! I remember being young and driving all over the place, both on my motorcycle and in my cars. I loved it! After 30+ years of commuting long distance to work, I'm over it. I hope he enjoys driving it!
