1966 C30 Dually Refurbish

I picked this up last week and have wiped everything down and cleaned out all of the old mice nest and acorn shells out of it.

Most of the panels on it are straight and have surface rust, but are not rusted out.

It had some weird options, like windshield washed and seat belts, but did not come with a radio.

My plans for it are to get it mechanically sound and build a bed for it.

I'll probably go back with the original dark green on it or something close to it.

Here's a picture of it when we stopped to get something to eat near the end of the trip. As usual, the kids got paid off with some Whataburger for helping load it up and strapping and chaining it down.

Re: 1966 C30 Dually Refurbish

And for the bad news, somewhere over the years something large and heavy fell across the top of the cab, the cowl cover, cowl extension, busted the original windshield, and put a huge bend in the dash.

One of the previous owners welded a new top on the cab, but didn't do a very good job of lining it up and put giant, monkey-turd looking welds around the whole thing.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's worth the effort to cut the top off and align it properly or just grind down the welds and cobble things a little to make it look better.

Too bad I'm not closer. I'll be selling my parts truck. Cab is in decent shape, flatbed with cattle rack and a 292. Green truck had cattle rack that I took off and built the headache rack and sideboards. I switched the hood, grill and bumper.

I wish you were closer, too. i could use a lot of those parts and have been looking for a 292 to put in this one.
