Cool 1972 blazer doors from pickup doors

Has anyone converted pickup doors to blazer doors ? It looks like the only difference is the frame around the window. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

The factory assembly manual shows how to do it. That is appearently the way the factory did it originaly. It just takes a lot of nerve the first time you draw back on that hack saw. Practice on a rusted out door first.

Just remember that 72 has a different window regulator than the earlier trucks and if you want to use the 72 door panels you need to either swap in your regulators or get 72 truck doors.

There is also a reinforcement plate that should be added to the truck doors. I believe it is on the rear of the door. I plan on doing this sometime soon. I got a perfect extra blazer door for the passenger side, but the driver's side is in deep need of replacement. The blazer doors are actually just cut truck doors with an extra reinforcement. I didn't know about the window regulater being different. You learn something new every day. That's why this is the best board on the net!

I made '72 Suburban doors out of new repro pickup doors. We
drilled out the spot welds for the upper frame and replaced with the original Suburban frame. We installed the vent window as we dry fitted it to get the angle correct. It worked really well.

The inside of the door near the strike plate is a little different. It isn't recessed on the door enough for any extra clearance. I had to grind the bolts 1/16 inch so the door wouldn't clip them when shutting opening and shutting. It make adjusting a bit tricky.

I hope this helps.
