Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

DOes anyone have a picture of the passenger side track for a bench? Mine is missing the piece that keeps the seat from sliding back and forth on that side.

Does someone have a pic of the spring seat bottom vs. the full foam bottom? Were the spring seat versions common to particular years?

Hey MusicMan, those last two photos of your 70 & 73, is that the "full foam bottom" version? This is what my frame looks like. Thanks!

Yes Steve. I believe the Sierra Grande's came factory with Full Foam and that is the spring pattern for them.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

Thanks MusicMan. When replacing my seat foam, do I have to buy seat frame year specific foam? What I mean is, 71-72 seat frames are the same but will any year foam work as long as it is a "full foam bottom"?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

This might be of interest. it seems that seat from C-40 and larger trucks 73 and newer use earlier seats and brackets. Those trucks do not have the raised floors to clear the gas tanks. We replaced the old seat brackets whick looked like the 69-70 style (if I remeber correctly) with some from an 84 and installed the seat in the 84. That rtells me there is interchangability to the seat frames.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I was just on the Classic Industries website and they list replacement seat foam for the '67-'68 for $299.99 and for the '69-'72 for $470.00 What gives? Is there a difference in the foam between these years?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

From personal experience the 67 seat I have has springs in the back and only a tiny piece of foam so I imagine that's the price difference....if yours is full foam I think you'd need the more expensive setup...but verify first.

Definitely a 71-72 seat,... but I'm not sure how to identify the foam differences.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I know this is an old thread, but I was directed to it while trying to determine what bench seat I just bought. I have a 72 K10, and the original is in pretty bad shape (multiple broken springs) so I bought another, thinking it would bolt right up but no suck luck. My brackets from my 72 won't fit it.

Looking at the photos in this thread, I don't see any seats with the same type of springs I have (in the seat I just bought) They just looks like rods that span the seat

Does anyone have an idea of what year and what it might be out of?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I think I answered my own question. Doing some further searching, there is a photo in this thread that appears to have the same type of spring in the seat. Says it from a 66. Will this work in a 72 if I can somehow find correct brackets or did I just flush another $150 down the toilet?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I don't have an answer for you on the brackets but i can verify that my 72 had the arched springs with 2" foam, the springs had a zig zag pattern.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

The full foam frame also had the zig zag pattern fit were flat to allow 6" of foam.

Figured if nothing else some pic's may help you verify a little better?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

Looks like a 71-72.
Take one of the seat tracks off and post a good picture of the top rear bracket.
That will tell you for sure.
