Replacing Factory Single Exhaust ?

Does anyone offer a single exhaust system kit ? I really don’t want to go to dual exhaust...thanks

Ive looked everywhere without any luck. I even called a few manufacturers and couldnt find anyone who makes one for a v8.

Walker makes the Y pipe and some of the exhaust pieces. Go to their website and it allows you to put your vehicle make, model, year, leafs or coils etc.

why single.......... duals is better all around 2 1/4 with caddy mufflers you wont regret it.

Plus the sigle y pipe under the engine oil pan is great for raiseing oil temp and making it hard to change oil filt

I know this is resurrecting an old thread but I have a follow up question. I have a bone stock small block with the original Quadrajet set up and ram's horn manifolds. I drive and use the truck as originally build, hauling and pulling. I've always heard that reducing back pressure (adding a free flowing dual exhaust) can reduce available torque. Or is the answer "oh know, here we go again with this debate" Thanks

I asked my only local exhaust guy about both. His reply was “ About $500.00 for either one. About the same amount of labor to fab up, with single going up in diameter.

If your motor is stock I think any loss or gains would be negligible.

That would be true if you ran straight pipes from each cylinder, because you would be losing the scavenging effect of having multiple cylinders empty into one manifold or header. However, beyond that there is almost no appreciable positive effect of back pressure unless you're running a turbo.

When I got my truck a previous owner had put duals on the stock rams horn manifolds and use the original 2 inch exhaust pipe and added a 2 1/4 to the other side. I had it all removed and went to 2 1/4 inch pipes with an H Pipe front to back and Dynomax Turbo Mufflers that are 25 inches long. 1972 C10 longbox has the stock untouched 350 V8 with a 4 bbl carb engine. After the work was done and I pulled away form the muffler shop I could feel the difference in power from just doing that. I think was mentioned that a good running engine with stock rams horn manifolds and front to back 2 1/4 pipes and what ever mufflers work for you will be all you need. Its too bad I can't post a video of my truck idling on here as think you'd like the sound.

i searched all over for stock dual exhaust parts for my big block 72 Cheyenne Super,it came with duals.i spent a bunch of years a long time ago running a muffler shop with a bender so i know my way around that stuff.i couldn't find anything and emailed Walker in Tennessee,they reported back that they no longer made parts for our trucks??so i made my front pipes,bought 2 1/2 in and 2 1/4 out Walker mufflers from Rock Auto and as Joe said,went to Waldron's in Michigan for tail pipes.i think they offer a single system.they do make nice stuff and i've used their stuff on several cars.here again,as Boog said,any good corner muffler shop can make what you need,adapt another crossover if need be and make the rest.
