Re: Front brake hose question

Whats the difference between a drum brake hose and a disc brake hose? I was looking at some stainless brake hose kits from GMC Pauls and i noticed some disc brake hoses.

Re: Front brake hose question

At very least, the length is different. Disc brakes have the hose on the back of the front crossmember, and drum brakes have the hose on the front of the crossmember. (It might be the other way around! ... can't exactly remember)

Re: Front brake hose question

Just for reference the OEM hose lengths are
1967 12.1/8" long
1968-1971 9" long
1972 8.5/8" long

measired between ferrules-(Actual exposed hose)

Re: Front brake hose question

mbgmike is right. The ferrule length may differ between brands. The other thing to note is bend radii. The rubber hoses may bend easier/more than a similar braided hose and rerouting may be required to use them.
