Took some passenger side header pics while I was out there today, the headers fit the frame well but look to be uber tight exiting towards the bell housing.

why cant I find those headers for sale anywhere? I went to see if the headers I had would fit and passenger hits the tranny, so Ill be needing a new set, and I remembered these looking good. do you know anywhere that sells them?

They're always tight...

The bigger question in my mind is, "will it burn the plug wires"

Had a set on the blue one that were literally impossible to stop from burning through and arcing out.

Just curious because I was looking at those for my C-10. They have shorty plugs available but want to avoid that if I can.

I have pics somewhere...

I spent big money with a company called 'Live Wire' for wires that are "gauranted" not to burn...yep they burt.

I used those boots on my blue blazer with the 2.5" rams and after time, even the center two would burn through.

I just saw an add where Accel is making some with ceramic ends, I think I'll be looking into a set of those.

just checked out the accel set you were talking about, theyre around 150 a set. I would need the 90 degree ends for those headers right?

If the ceramic boots are hard, they might not have the flexibility needed to fit over the end of the plug when you put them in. I'll let someone else spend the $150 to find out.

One more question on the headers. How does the shift linkage from the column to tranny clearance look? are the headers interfering?

Didn't really study that area, plans are to use a cable shift.

Installing a 4spd tilt, so there's no linkage there.

well Im ordering a flaming river column tilt too and have a 700r4 as well so i was just worried about the linkage. Ive never hard of the cable shift before I was just going to order the lokar linkage. ill have to take a look into these cable shift.

The headers run pretty close to the firewall. What is the temperature rating of the lizard skin? Will it withstand the heat in the engine compartment without cracking, shrinking, or burning? I've never seen it used in that area.

Mine is a factory 4spd column, so I can't give you any info on the Flaming River part other than I hear they're pretty dayum nice.

As for the cable shift, I got it through Summit and it's made by Lokar.
Note that this is not what I'm using this time, the pic is from the blue blazer which had a factory column.

The Lizard Skin is a two part application with the 1st layer being a sound control and the 2nd being heat protection.

Taken right off of the container stating what it will do:
*Reduce engine and solar heat transfer by 25-30 degrees or more
*Reduce noise by as much as 10-12 decibels
*Protect sufaces from moisture and corrosion
*Withstand temperatures to 500 degrees F (260 C)
*Class 'A' fire rated, does not support combustion

The stuff is made for 'exactly' this application.

Here's a set I have with 90 degree ceramic ends. I believe these are made by Taylor. Might be cheaper than the Accels.

I love how VT can refer to them as "the blue blazer" or "the orange blazer" or "the green blazer" and everyone in North America and most of the Northern Hemisphere knows EXACTLY what he's talking about. That's pretty much the definition of building BAD@SS stuff!

Was still able to get them on and off for the valve adjustments. Didn't like the clearance either, but couldn't bring my self to hitting the stock firewall either.

Do you post some pictures of your valve cover to firewall clearance. I'm going that route and would like to see what you ended up with.
