Remove Locked Gas Cap

There is a locked gas cap on my 67 GMC I just recently bought..Of course theres no key..Whats the best way to remove it without damaging the neck..Thanks

Hmm..I'm not a mechanic but wouldn't that put metal in the tank?

Just kidding.

I guess you could remove the filler neck tube and pull it out and then drill out the cap?

i dont think it would put shards in the tank as long as you dont drill all the way thru. just enough to turn the lock

The last 14 times I have done this, I have used a big flat blade screw driver, drove it into the key hole slot with a nice size hammer and gave it a good twist.

The filler necks on these tank are tougher than they look. You do have to use some patients but it can be done without drilled or torching.
