Remove Locked Gas Cap
There is a locked gas cap on my 67 GMC I just recently bought..Of course theres no key..Whats the best way to remove it without damaging the neck..Thanks

Or take a torch to it.
Ha, Just kidding. I guess you could remove the filler neck tube and pull it out and then drill out the cap?

i dont think it would put shards in the tank as long as you dont drill all the way thru. just enough to turn the lock

The last 14 times I have done this, I have used a big flat blade screw driver, drove it into the key hole slot with a nice size hammer and gave it a good twist.
The filler necks on these tank are tougher than they look. You do have to use some patients but it can be done without drilled or torching. Good luck, Tom
