When is the last time anyone here saw one of those 61 pickup trucks with a wide bed, chrome trim on the sides, and two tone paint? I have seen an occasional one but not in a very long time. People didn't seem to embrace that torsion bar front suspension so maybe 61 was a bad year for Chevys.

1958 Chevy was one of the ugliest cars ever made. Not too surprising Cadillac designed something this ugly and thought it would sell. I wonder why they didn't go through with it?

I've always felt the same about the '58s. You'd have to go to the '30s and look at some Hudsons to top that.

A luxury SUV was not on anybody's radar in the late 1950s.

Luxury SUVs were not on MY radar, even when I joined the GM Luxury SUV group in 1999. (I was in engineering program management for the 2001 Denali and the 2002 Escalade).

i'm the opposite. i think 58 was a great year for style. if i had the money i'd own every vehicle gm made in 58 plus a 59 elco. i mean look at this trunk! you could hide a whole bunch of bodies in there

looks like maybe 12 vehicles on a totally unreinforced wood roof
it probably held the first car fine, so they kept stick vehicles up there
