56 chevy pu engine wiring
Does anyone happen to have pics or diagrams of their wiring in the engine compartment of a 1956 chevy pickup. Im running a 350 and the previous owner has some spliced wires. I know theres not much too these trucks but im not sure exactly where everything goes. Thanks guys

Re: 56 chevy pu engine wiring
stock wiring on a 56 is pretty basic, you have nothing stock
alternator, electric choke, hei distributor and a lot of unknowns does it run now? charge?

Yes it runs. I basically need to get it cleaned up. Theres wires everywhere and wires spliced. I need to find out what goes to the electric choke and so on. I know theres not much too it but any pics or something will help. Thanks

Choke - 12v ign source
If you want start with one circuit at a time an we can go from there. What type of fuse block do you have? Stock or aftermarket? |

Re: 56 chevy pu engine wiring
Stock fuse block. Im buying a brand new wiring harness but im eventually going to transfer all the body parts and stuff too the camaro clip frame I got. But for the meantime I want to get the wiring situated so I can drive it for now.

Re: 56 chevy pu engine wiring
fuse block only came on any truck that was ordered with high dollar options; like a radio, heater or electric wipers
not really good for additional loads, though the choke really won't overload it if you plan on getting a new wiring harness i'd just fix individual circuits that are giving you grief key on source to the ignition will work with the choke temp and gas gauge get power from the key and ground thru the sending unit all lights get power from the voltage relay connections and have overloads built into the headlight switch not much else to wire on these trucks what does and doesn't work?

Re: 56 chevy pu engine wiring
One wire on the electric choke will go to the fuse block that is hot only with the key on. The other one is grounded.
