On to the Reverse Input Drum.
**NOTE** 82-86 used a different drum than 87-93, They DO NOT interchange! The early one has a Steel piston The late drum has a Aluminum piston. Remove snap ring, An Awl works best. Lift the clutches & steels out. Compress the return spring cage, Remove snap ring, Remove Piston. I recommend replacing this drum, The 2-4 band rides here. If you want to reuse it Check it with a Straight Edge for flatness, If flat, Do a light cross hatch with emery cloth to knock the glaze off. Then Replace BOTH bushings!! New drum for $62.11, Amazon.com: 700 4L60E New Reverse Input Drum:... Worth it if you ruin a few bushings getting your technique down. |
