'99 suburban lower ball joint.

hi my 99 gmc suburban needs new ball joints. im working on the drivers side now and i have the old upper ball joint out and the new one in. im having a problem with the old lower ball joint, can anyone help me out and let me know the way to remove it? thank you

A ball joint press is the best bet. It looks like a huge c-clamp but has adaptors to fit over the stud and press the ball joint into. Or you can remove the arm and put it into a hydraulic press. These ball joints are pressed in. I bought the ball joint service tool from HF and did my 99 suburban with the arms on the vehicle.

some are pressed in some are rivited in.

I just replaced mine. I couldnt get my lower ball joints out with the ball joint press. I eventally took the arms off and had them pressed out.

Is this the same as doing it on a 4x4 with torsion bars... I just don't know if they will release or something

I did mine with no problems other than having to make a shorter adapter to be able to get them pressed back in. I really recommend a ball joint press to get them in and out...
