Re: And so it begins................

I was thinking about that today. If for some reason I can't get some temporary paint on the truck before the meet then I'm going to go ahead and bolt it on anyway.

Might ought to let him tinker on that engine of yours. If there's anything dad is a tech about, it's high performance engines. Bet he'd like to build them for a profession.

And I saw him sanding and grinding, personally . He's getting after it. Probably should give him some props, he's been putting as much time into his as you have been in yours, I'd bet .

Life's savings bet on the green HUGE block.

Thanks bro. It's this truck meet that's getting all of us here in Oklahoma busy working on these trucks. We're trying to see who shows up with the least amount of change in their trucks from last year. Neil is pretty much safe since he didn't have a truck at the last meet and this year it will be a complete resto-rod.

Re: And so it begins................

Neil, I need to get that cowl out of the van and get it primed/sealed too. The rest of my front clip is done now. Blake has the pics on his camera so I'll have to wait until he posts them for me. He did the sanding on the hood while I did the fender. Now I need to get some more primer. I actually ran out of thinner too but Blake went and got me another gallon while I was shooting the primer.

What is the difference between self-etching primer and this acrylic DuraBuild primer that I'm using?

Re: And so it begins................

Self-etching primer is composed of an acid and zinc. The acid, usually phosphoric acid, forces the zinc down into the top couple of molecules of the steel. Chemically impregnating the steel like this cannot reverse the rust but it can stop in from getting worse

Re: And so it begins................

Yeah that is the goal but it will just be a temporary paint job. I'm not sure I'll actually make it though but I'll try.

Re: And so it begins................

Not quite sure what the problem is, but my computer isn't recognizing this memory card I just bought for my camera. Going to have to wait until tomorrow night and I'll just come up to dad's and try one of his newer computers. This one is around 8 years old, so may just be technology whooping it's arse .

Re: And so it begins................

Just with my recent experiences, a '76+ quadrajet core makes tuning a whole lot easier. If you intend to do headers or anything that would be the way to go imo. The adjustable part throttle screw is very useful. Just thought i'd share. Got a couple of secondary hangers in the mail right now. Keep up the progress

I have the same problem with the memory card for my new camera. I just leave it in the camera, and plug the camera into the computer to get pics off it.
