Question 1970 project in need of help!

Hello!

im new here so i hope it not to bad of a post.

i just bought a 1970 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup Saterday. it was in the weeds and i saved her and my plans are to retore her to her original state or real close.

my problem is it is titled and the glove box plate says 1970 but it has disc brakes on the front and 1971 or 72 front end and doors.
it maybe peiced together but i want to know if the frame is 1970. i dont know how to tell and really want to know. IS there anywhere i can look to find out if it is original or what it is.

and is there some place i can find out the way it was original? i barely can read the plate inside the glove box. and i was told that my truck could be LATE 1970 to get the disc brakes.

and help would be great.

on a side note any suggestions on what carb to put on it. i want something with all the power but not nickel and dime me to drive it. i want to ditch the quadrajet on it. its broke anyways.

thanks alot!

Re: 1970 project in need of help!

There are 3 different frames from 1967-72.
The 1967 doesnt have the dimple for the power steering, the 68-71 does have the dimple , and the 1972 has the rear brake line routed around to the far side of the second to last rear cross member and through it with a bracket for the brake hose to interface with the brake line.
The frame is stamped with a partial vin up front near the steering box.
As far as the Carb goes I would get an Edelbrock 500 CFM with electric choke.

Re: 1970 project in need of help!

awesome thats is great. thanks for the info.
that will help me tons! i will look and try to figure out which one it is, its really got me thinking.

about the carb thanks for the suggestion, i was thinking a ebelbrock performer 600 but it has manual choke.

but thanks for all your help.

if it ends up being a 71 frame i prob will go ahead and make it a 70 since the cab is a 70 and i dont know how much of a pain it would be to get all title and crap changed over.

and love the build! love from the ground up i know i will have alot of that to come

Thanks so much!
