Vintage air is the way to go 100%.There kit will be a 100% direct bolt in to your truck.

I've got a Vintage Air unit in my GTO, and am in the process of installing one in my 71. Very happy with VA. Never worked with Classic Auto Air though, so I can't say how it compares.

I didn't buy the full kit but classic air is my choice. Can't beat their customer service.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

I've never heard of this "famous" unit. It might be okay for a single cab pickup, but I wouldn't use it on anything larger. It's made for streetrods (small cabins) and it looks like it will be a small unit.
My money would go back to Vintage Air on the next one. I like how VA and CAA make kits to fit with the factory stuff meant for specific vehicles. This unit looks like one of those large boxes you mount below the dash.

I called Southern to ask about their kit since I am about to buy A/C for my truck. The guy that answered the phone had an attitude and told me straight away that their kit is not a direct fit for our trucks. It also does not come with the firewall block off plate. It will require additional parts after buying the kit. That tells me that it would be like buying a headache. I will be going with VA.

I have installed two Classic Auto Air units in trucks. Both work great and the quality is also great.

I bought a vintage air kit for my 66 chevelle conv. The AC kit sat in its box for 10 years. Project got put on back burner (2 baby boys a year apart) When I finally got ready to put it in I was missing a couple items. I called vintage air and they still hooked me up. I had to fax packing list and receipts. But I'd expect that. I thought I was S.O.L. They hooked me up with what I needed. Very customer friendly/ professional. I'm a life time customer and will be buying a kit for my 1968 chevy truck soon.
