We built the door panels out of mdf.......wood. Once it is designed and cut out we prime, sand, and paint the panels with automotive paint to seal it. Since we wrap them in leather the panels have to be smooth.

I took this photo today........

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

I found out about a car show on Sunday late Saturday afternoon. I had only driven the truck a few miles about a month ago so it was still untested on the road. I gambled and drove the 6 miles to the show. For a true maiden voyage the drive was trimendous. I was really impressed how nice this truck rides. With the skinny tires the ride was incredibly smooth. The A/C blows nice and cold and no issues. I pulled up to the show a little late but it was a crowd stopper. The big block sounds awesome through the exhaust.........just like a high HP muscle car. I guy stopped by and took a few photos and asked for my email address. He send me the photos today. I think they are beautiful!!

i can't wait to see this truck all done, nice work.looks like your dash panel has been cut were the wiper and light switch would mount, my truck was cut there too i had to fabricate mounts and weld to the dash, what a pain, now i noticed they sell the complete assembly, that would have been a lot easier.are you installing a custom gauge cluster?

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

Here are the last of the interior pictures. Jason from On The Ground Designs is flying in this weekend and we will be doing a photo shoot of the c10. I will be putting it up for sale pretty soon. I just had to finish this truck the way I wanted it but other projects are calling.

P.S. its going to be expensive!!

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

We had a really fun day in the shop today when a crew came in to photograph the C10. They spent 7 hours setting up, taking photo's and tearing down. It is unbelievable how much work goes into getting the perfect shot. The pictures are headed toward a national magazine so I wont be able to share the pictures until they are released. I hate keeping secrets!!

Hi Mark!
The truck is looking fantastic!!! (no matter which thread I look at it in (garagejournal too) ...
I was wondering if you might know/share how you guys mounted the roof panel (IE: welded nuts or clips). I would like to put something like that in my '72 as well... more better (lol) than a stock headliner....

Thanks!!!

That is one gorgeous machine! Is the roof chopped at all? I didn't see any mention of it but there are so many changes to the glass and drip rail, pillars, etc. It looks a tad shorter than original and the pillars look more swept back than mine. May just be optical illusion. If it is, how much?

Thank you! It feels good to see it with the interior in it. I am really as happy with the interior as I am with all of the metal work we did.

No we did not chop the roof. I would imagine as you said there is an illusion because the drip rails are shaved. Chopping the top is about the only thing we didn't touch.

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

I finally brought the C10 home today....to my home garage. I have brought it home for the last time and I will tell you why in a minute. This project started 6 years ago and has far exceeded my expectations in time, investment, and end product. I really feel it has been a spectacular build and I have accomplished what I always like to do which is build a unique hot rod. I have brought it home to photograph and sell.

I have accomplished what I set out to do and now its done my job is over. We are currently working on a major build to take to SEMA this year and I need to put all of my effort into it.....and money!! I am all over the map with how I will be offering it for sale but I think the theory is sell high. I know I have well over $100,000 in this truck and I know I won't see my money back out of it but I will give it my best shot.

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

Over the last few years and particularly the last 12 months I have been on a mission to finish my C10 pickup. Even though I knew it would be sold I finished it as it were to be mine. Unfortunately, no expense was spared in this build. Seriously!! It was sold off of eBay for an undisclosed price. Any of you who were watching eBay saw my buy it now price and I got close. I have never been so happy to loose $30,000 in my life!!
I hope everyone enjoyed the project as much as we did!!!
