Door window visors - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I had some on my 70 GMC. I really liked them I want to get some for my 70 and 71.

My question is, how do you put these things in? I've looked and found nothing. But then again I'm ignorant.

Ignore the hag in the photo. I want the visors again, not her.

There are 4 clips that fit in the upper window channel, So you pull the window channel gasket loose starting at the top/front and back to where the channel falls down the back side of the window . Install the 4 clips spaced evenly and the shade slides up and under the edge of the door and under the clips , Go slowly it's real easy to scratch the paint .Once you have the shade installed .Reinstall the the gasket and your good to go . it might be easier to install the shade and then the 4 clips it's been a wile since I used them . They used to sell the same style shades that installed with 4 small screws and those were a real PITA to install .

It sounds like they all are a PITA to install.

I kind of figured that.

They first used to come with small screws and you drilled the door on the edge. It was easy to mess up your door. I drilled and screwed some (I run them on all my trucks). At some point I began just sticking them in. That's how they are on my '72 GMC. Every now and then I'll have to push the back corner up when I notice it dropped some. They won't blow out. And my truck still has original window channel. I imagine just a dot of adhesive would keep them from dropping

The shades were nowhere near the hardest part of my build. Of course, the doors were completely disassembled for refurb when I installed mine. Still...removing the seals and installing shades with clips should be easy unless your seals have been glued in.
